May 2009 - Covéa AIS wins the Argus d’Or award for Coventéo, its storm forecasting tool

Argus de L’Assurance magazine has announced its Argus d’Or prize winners for 2009.

Nine prizes were awarded during a ceremony on 13 May, including one in the “Management Practices” category to the Covéa Group for Coventéo.

The jury found Coventéo to be a good way to keep stress in check when managing storm claims, making a real difference in organising the work of MAAF, MMA and GMF’s AIS (claim compensation) teams. Coventéo thus has a bright future ahead of it.

Covéa AIS thus earned a third Argus d’Or award from the industry:

  • AIS concept in 2004 (Motor Insurance performance division)
  • “Home for Four” in 2004 (Bodily Injury performance division)
  • Coventéo in 2009 (Property and Casualty performance division)

Such innovations are testimony to the benefits of synergies being unleashed between Covéa companies, without which none of the banners would have been able to enjoy the resources the Performance divisions offer or had the volumes of data required to implement these projects.

The claims management teams proved how beneficial the Coventéo system is in January 2009, following the Klaus and Quinten storms.

Background on Coventéo

Developed with a forecaster, Coventéo allows the consequences of major events to be anticipated. Based on forecasts from 440 weather centres and parameters including relief and land use, it determines, before a storm hits, the number of declarations within a town, how they will be split, and the cost of claim compensation. These forecasts allow for efficient organisation and a mobilisation of all players in the compensation chain ahead of time, thus facilitating claim management.
